70+ years of care and counting

We have been the leaders in Christian retirement for more than 70 years. We have grown and changed since we were established in 1949, but our heart to provide loving communities for people to enjoy remains the same.

History

Our original home at Norman Park—purchased in 1949

Bethany Lines

1949

Bethany Aged Christians’ Home (subsequently Bethany Riverside Village) is established on the Brisbane River at Norman Park, inaugurated by various Christian Brethren Assemblies around Brisbane.

1990

Janoah Gardens Retirement Village is established at Manly West. The village is developed in stages and includes independent living units and serviced apartments.

1998

We are known by our current name, Bethany Christian Care, as an owner and operator of retirement villages and aged care facilities.

2003

Bethany Riverside Village at Norman Park is sold. Beth Eden is acquired from another organisation - it includes independent living units and an aged care facility. Beth Eden was permanently closed in 2023.

2004

The first residents move into our newest and largest complex—The Plains at Eight Mile Plains.

2006

All operations from Bethany Riverside Village at Norman Park are moved to The Plains. The Plains opens serviced apartments and an aged care facility.

2008

The final stage of The Plains is completed to welcome more residents to new independent living units.

2009

Janoah Gardens establishes an aged care facility.
